Why locals go
Cần Thơ is the delta's capital and Saigon's favorite plate: 11 million visitors in 2025, overwhelmingly Vietnamese, most of them down for a weekend of eating with one dawn boat ride attached. The formula is fixed — bus down Saturday, Cái Răng floating market at sunrise, then bánh cống, nem nướng, lẩu mắm and vịt nấu chao until the Sunday bus home. Best months are Dec–Apr for the dry season when everything runs; May–Aug is when locals actually come, for orchard fruit, trading afternoon downpours for it; Sep–Nov is peak rain and high water — greenest and cheapest, but plan mornings-only.
