The play:

1. Apply only at evisa.gov.vn (also reachable as thithucdientu.gov.vn). Single entry $25, multiple entry $50. As of 2026 the program covers all nationalities, stays up to 90 days, and 80+ entry points.
2. Treat every .com or .net “Vietnam e-visa” site as an agent reselling the identical document at $50–100 — a 100–300% markup. Only .gov.vn is the government portal.
3. One red flag worth closing the tab over: any visa site asking for your SSN or bank details. The official form never does.
4. Skip visa-on-arrival unless you have a specific reason: the e-visa is $25, arrives in 3–7 days, and you walk straight to the counter. VOA means a $20–60 agency approval letter plus a $25 cash stamp — $45–85 total, plus the airport queue.
5. The e-visa doesn’t cover Vietnam’s digital arrival card — that’s a separate mandatory form, completed online before landing. Treat it as its own step, not part of the visa.
