Xe ôm and cyclo: the price is what's on your screen

A cyclo (pedicab) loop that's fair at 100,000–150,000 VND (~$4–6) for 30 minutes has been billed at twenty times that: VnExpress documented a 2,900,000 VND (~$110) demand for a five-minute ride. Xe ôm (motorbike taxi) riders routinely quote tourists 2–3x local rates. The gap is never the ride — it's the missing agreement.
